Sidney Shema

A Kenya-based wildlife researcher specializing in African wildlife – especially the birds of Kenya. He currently manages the Kenya Bird Map project and is a National Geographic Explorer for his research on birds of prey in the Athi-Kaputiei area of southern Kenya. He graduated with a BSc in Wildlife Management from the University of Nairobi in 2017. Mercy Njeri Waithira

Conservation enthusiast, a content creator for conservation awareness and an avid birdwatcher. She is currently the Wildlife and Ecology Officer at the renowned OL Pejeta Conservancy. She has a BSc. Wildlife Management and Conservation from University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Wildlife Management from Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (KWSTI). Over the years, she has garnered experience in conservation by taking up volunteer roles with different Conservation Organizations. Some of the organizations she has previously worked with include Birdlife International Africa secretariat, Laikipia Wildlife Forum and the National Museums of Kenya. She is an alumnus of the Conservation Leadership Programme and she implemented a conservation awareness programme in Laikipia funded by Rufford Foundation.

Salim Mandela

I am an Alumnus of the University of Nairobi: Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation and, currently at the research stage in pursuit of a Masters degree in Environmental Planning and Management; so far, I have garnered 6 years of wildlife research and 2 years of Managerial experience in Masai Mara.

Brian M. Waswala

A wildlife ecologist, currently serving as a part-time lecturer at Maasai Mara University, mentoring undergraduates on diverse wildlife related courses. He formerly served as an Environmental Educational Training Specialist at the United Nations Environment Programme for 4 years, championing for environmental awareness; student and community engagement in sustainability practices; and curriculum development and implementation in global higher education institutions. Brian holds a BSc. degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation and a MSc. in Environment and Natural Resource Management from the University of Nairobi and Makerere University (Uganda) respectively
